About
We tell you what to skip.
Most travel content is a firehose of "hidden gems" that all sound the same. Kick-It Picks is a filter. Every place gets an honest verdict — including the ones that aren't worth it.
The Bucket Rating
Every pick gets one of four ratings, so you can build a trip around what matters:
- Non-negotiable — you don't get to say you did the state without it.
- Worth the drive — point the car, no regrets.
- If you've got the day — earns its spot when you're not rushed.
- Only if you're already close — good, not a pilgrimage.
The Kick-It seal
The boot kicking the bucket — it's on our books and our logo. When you see it stamped on a pick, that's the top tier: if you do nothing else, do this.
How we check facts
Every entry is verified against real sources, and we stamp each page with the month we last checked it. Prices creep, hours change, and places close on a Tuesday with no warning — so we always tell you to confirm before a long drive, and we fix what changes. Found something wrong? Tell us.
A note on our photos
Some of the artwork on this site is stylized illustration, not photography — we don't pass off generated images as real photos of a place. As readers send us their own "kicked it" shots and we get out on the road ourselves, real photos replace the art, page by page.
The books started it all
Kick-It Picks grew out of the Kick the Bucket List guide series.
