Eat Ribs the Way Dreamland Intended

Dreamland Bar-B-Que · Tuscaloosa
A Kick-It Pick
Non-negotiable
a rib joint so sure of itself it sold basically one thing for decades. Turns out that's all it needed.

Dreamland opened in Tuscaloosa in 1958, and for most of its history the menu was gloriously, defiantly short: ribs, white bread, and sauce. That was it. The ribs come slathered in a tangy tomato-based sauce, the white bread is there to sop it up, and the original location’s motto — “ain’t nothing like ‘em nowhere” — is the kind of brag a place only earns by backing it up for decades.

The move: Go to the original Tuscaloosa location if you can — the newer branches are fine, but the mothership is the experience. Ribs and white bread, sauce on everything, and don't fill up on sides that the founder didn't think you needed anyway.
