Bryce Canyon National Park Guide
Bryce isn’t really a canyon — it’s a series of natural amphitheaters carved into the edge of a high plateau, filled with thousands of hoodoos: spindly, glowing orange-pink spires of rock that stand in silent, crowded armies below the rim. A Paiute legend called them the Legend People turned to stone. At over 8,000 feet, Bryce is cool when the desert below bakes, and because it’s so remote and high, it has some of the darkest night skies in the country — the stars here are staggering. Sunrise at the rim, when the first light sets the hoodoos on fire, is one of the great sights in the West.
