Tombstone & the O.K. Corral Guide
On October 26, 1881, the most famous thirty seconds in Old West history played out in a vacant lot near the O.K. Corral, when the Earps and Doc Holliday faced the Clanton-McLaury cowboys and the guns went off. Tombstone was a silver boomtown then, and today it leans all the way into its legend — wooden boardwalks, gunfight reenactments, the Tombstone Epitaph newspaper still publishing, and Boot Hill Graveyard with its famously blunt headstones (“Here lies Lester Moore, four slugs from a .44”). It’s touristy as anything, and it’s also the real place where the real thing happened.
